Story
I am traveling to Kenya in June as part of MEAK's Kenya Orthopaedic project, where I will be performing imaging and assistance for the orthopaedic surgery team in Nanyuki hospital. These procedures can drastically improve the quality of life for patients who otherwise would have to live with debilitating injuries or skeletal deformity.
MEAKs' Kenya Orthopaedic Project carries out essential orthopaedic work on Kenyan people. With the increase in the number of motorised vehicles and especially motor bikes on Kenyan roads the rate of people being injured is rising exponentially. Broken limbs and injuries from any kind of accident, if not corrected, can result in life altering situations leaving the patients permanently crippled or unable to properly use their arms or hands. Orthopaedic surgery is expensive with special orthopaedic implants beyond the financial ability of most of the Kenyan population.

I have worked on this project before, and it is an incredible project that makes life-changing differences to people who have been injured or are living with skeletal injuries or deformities.
