Story
On the 2nd of June 2012, over two days we, along with fantastic friends are going to push a barrel across Scotland, 46 miles from Ullapool to Dingwall!
The reason for doing this epic journey?
Our beautiful twin girls suffer from a very rare auto immune disorder called Juvenile Dermatomyositis, and are believed to be the only identical twins in Britain with it.
It affects skin, muscles and joints and before diagnosis our Katie struggled to walk and even turn over in bed at night. Treatment has been along trial of drugs including chemo to find a combination that helps keep the condition stable enough for her to live a relatively pain free life and be able to do what all normal kids rightfully so take for granted, run around.
However there is no cure for this disorder and they constantly need new combinations of medication to keep the condition in remission, so research constantly needs to be done to find new drugs which could help the treatment and even one day maybe a cure.
So we are organising this Barrel push to help raise money into vital research and at the same time increase awareness of Juvenile Dermatomyositis.
