Quite simply as I reach my 50th birthday I wanted to mark it by setting myself a proper challenge, do something a little different and raise a lot of money for a worthwile cause.

In the past few years I've been lucky enough to own a few racehorses, celebrate some winners and be an owner at Royal Ascot but I've always wanted to learn to ride properly and so as I'm about to enter my 50th year I've set myself the challenge of competing in a  Charity Flat Race at Ffos Las in November and raising £20,000 for Clatterbridge in the process.

Which means in the next 6 months or so - getting an awful lot fitter, shedding 2 and a half stone (minimum), learning to ride racehorses but hopefully culminating in a racecourse appearance in November, wearing my own colours , maybe riding one of my own horses but most importantly having hit the £20K mark for charity.
