Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have chosen this challenge in Memory of Peter-ADRELLA for all the work that he did for Make A DifferenceTrust in raising funds for a charity that originally was set up to help provide HIV Care, support and education to all those in the entertainment industry and beyond both in the UK and Abroad. In 2012 The Trust undertook a 360 degree of its charitable services and and initiated a three year strategy designed to target the growing numbers of people living with HIV and those who are unaware of their staus across the entertainment industry. The Health Protection Agency's report December 2012 identified more than 100,000 people living in the UK with HIV and around one in four of them are not aware of their status.
The Trust carried out a survey in December 2012 across the industry to look at sexual health education, practice and behaviour. The survey was supported by Baseline and the NHS and received an excellent response. Owing to the results of this survey a number of new programmes are now to be deliverered by the Trust which include ,
The Crisis Fund - Set up to help provide small pockets of financial support for industry members who are struggling to manage their health owing to economic constraints. such as requests for food , respite care and bedding to cope with the harsh side effects of HIV treatments .
The Next Stage Programme - This project works to support industry members who have been unable to work for over 3 years owing to their chronic health condition with Life Coaching, debt counselling and health management support.
ACT Now! - The Trusts's new education awareness programme has been set up to provide sexual health information, condom distribution and access to HIV testing and conselling services under the MAD ACT Now! Project. Be Aware, Take Control, Get Tested .
Are You Positive? - A new commissioned three hand play written to engage students about the importance of HIV Awareness and the ability to make informed decisions .
Internationally - The Trust has supported more than 14,000 children orphaned by AIDS through an education as well as hundreds of families to receive food security, sanitation support and access to treatments. Currently the Trust works in Southern Africa as this is where it believes it can make the greatest difference.
This is also a personal challenge and thank you to Peter for years of Friendship that can never be repaid but in helping in this way will continue his fundraising frontier legacy, as he would often help those who were not the most visible when fundraising came to the forefront. There are several events which are unique to MADTrust such as West End Eurovison, West End Bares and A Christmas Carol Service at St Pauls which brings together the talent of all performers of Stage and Screen to help raise funds as the Arts has been hit terribly by HIV and AIDS and in so doing various events and giving their time for their colleagues and others so affected has raised the profile of this charity and raised money to help those in needs where others may not be so helpful.
