Story

I am one of a team of 32 doctors, dentists, ENPs and midwives who are heading out to a refugee camp on the Thia/Burma border this summer to train 25 'medics'. They will return to 32 Karen medical clinics in the mountains to treat the 400,000 internally displaced Karen who have been terrorized by the Military Junta for decades.

HOPE funded a 6-month Community Health Workers course from Oct 13 to Apr 14 and the best 25 students have been selected to receive a further 26 weeks training. They will be empowered to treat thousands within their communities with the practical basic medical skills they have gained.

Each team member is a volunteer, covers their own travel costs and uses their annual leave to participate.  The team is raising £10,000 towards the training course, which costs £583 per student, (£3 20 pence /day) for all transport, accommodation and food!

We'd appreciate any donation to help us to make a difference to some of the neediest and most inhumanely treated people on the face of the earth.

Thanks a lot
