We help those whos lives are affected to as a result of serving our country.

Story

3000 miles. 170,000 ft of climbs. 88 counties. 14 days. 12 men.

Follow my progress on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/john.moore.359126?pnref=eh and on the PWRR website http://www.pwrr.org.uk/ride-to-recovery/meet-the-team/ whilst I train and then take on this challenge!

In September 2015, The Friends of the PWRR will be undertaking their most physically demanding fundraising challenge to date.

In just 14 days, we will ride in tandem in a continuous relay from the East to West coast of America. Money raised during this challenge will help to support members of The Regiment, both past and present .

Over the past 10 years, The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment has endured continuous action in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Needless to say this level of action takes its toll and members of The Regiment and their families are in growing need of help. Through sustained fundraising efforts the charity enables people to have access to life changing procedures as well as ongoing support and advice

One such case is Sergeant Jay Baldwin.  On the 31st January 2012 Jay stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). He was left with multiple injuries; the most obvious of which being that he was a bilateral amputee above the knee.

In 2014 the charity identified a pioneering procedure called Osseointergration, a means by which Jay will be able to walk pain free, without sockets. However, this comes at a price, both emotionally and financially.

As a result of the support that Jay has received he has committed to taking part in this enormous challenge on a hand bike!!

We will ride in tandem in a continuous relay from the East to West coast of America so as to promote awareness, raise money and replenish the funds that were used for Jay's operation. We will cover between 200 - 300 miles a day as a means to contribute to the care that the charity can offer to those who may face similar circumstances as a result of serving their country.
