Story
Dear Family and Friends
I have finally taken leave of my senses, if I had any in the first place. No, I am not referring to being chairman/president of two major shuls on both sides of the pond (no, not concurrently – now that would be mad). Nor about getting back on two-wheels on my recently purchased motorbike (oops – my mother didn't know; she does now).
No, I have finally taken leave of my senses by agreeing to drive Ruby and three friends, this motzei shabbat, to the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales – for them to climb, all within 24 hours. Ok, so I'm not climbing the mountains, but I will be driving almost 1,200 miles round-trip all the way to Ben Nevis and back to London by Monday morning via Scafell Pike in the Lake District and Snowdon in North Wales. Click on the map below. Completely potty.
So why am I doing this?
Well, Ruby decided he wanted to raise money for charity, but Ruby being Ruby wasn't going to do it the simple way. No sponsored walk; not even a marathon; but up and down three mountains, not exactly next door to each other (or anywhere near London) in 24 hours. To have any chance of success, a designated driver was needed and after exhausting all other possibilities (I wonder why), I was somehow roped in earlier this week.
So how can you help?
Well, if I'm going to drive myself crazy – in all senses of the word – I thought I'd ask you to support my effort with a donation to Kisharon. Not only are they hugely deserving of every pound they raise due to the selfless work they do; not only are they celebrating their Ruby Anniversary this year (Ruby for Ruby, get it?); but my wonderful wife "Mrs Janice" has just secured a second outstanding inspection by Ofsted (the UK's school inspection unit) for Tuffkid, Kisharon's nursery school. A truly amazing achievement thanks to her sheer hard work, dedication and inspirational leadership. Click on the article below.
Like Prince Philip, I have always been proud to play a supporting role for my leading lady, though this time I will be the one in the driving seat. Click on the photo below.
Your generous support will give me every encouragement, which I know I'll need. Please respond quickly – the trip starts this motzei shabbat (following a long afternoon shluf).
Thank you in anticipation and shabbat shalom
Jonathan
