Story
On 27th July 2014, the Message family, (Jennie, Hannah and I) and a family friend, Nicole, are travelling to Kabubbu, Uganda, to volunteer with the charity, Quicken Trust. Since this charity began in 2000, the life quality of the community of Kabubbu has improved dramatically, primarily due to generous donations and hard working volunteers.
The community now has safe drinking water, and a medical centre with a designated maternity unit, leading to far less women dying in childbirth. The village now also has both a primary and secondary school and a successful sponsorship programme allowing children whose families cannot afford to give them an education to go to school. As a family, we sponsor a little girl called Annet who comes from a very poor family, and during our forthcoming trip, we hope to meet her and her relatives.
In addition, and as a result of the charity's efforts, a foster home has been set up for orphaned children and domestic violence workshops have been introduced for women who have been affected. The charity puts a special effort in trying to help villagers become self sufficient, by creating an education programme for farming and agriculture and also trades such as plumbing, decorating, carpentry and electrical work. However none of this would be possible without your donations, and whether large or small they will make a big difference.
We are funding the entire cost of the trip ourselves, and therefore all donations received will be directly funding the work that we will be carrying out during our time in Kabubbu. This includes building and decorating new homes, teaching literacy in the primary school, helping in the medical centre and much, much more. I do really hope you are able to assist in making our trip a memorable one.
Thank you in advance,
Jonathan.
