Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am on the fund raising committee of CLIC Sargent Jersey. For the next few months I will be unable to make much of a contribution to the committee, so I was trying to think of a way I could do something useful whilst I am temporarily out of action.
I stumbled across a blog of a woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. She decided to get people to sponsor her through her course of chemotherapy. The point she made was that she was always being asked to sponsor people to run a marathon, or for a gap year student to teach in an African school, or ride a bike around Thailand. All these people where doing wonderful things for worthy charities, but they where often choosing to do something they wanted to do. Clearly, no one would choose to receive chemotherapy. It is something that just has to be endured and I am hoping my journey will not be too much of an endurance test for me or for the people around me.
Since my diagnosis I have reflected on the financial impact a cancer diagnosis can have on families. I feel very fortunate that I have a wonderful husband, sons and friends who will help me through the next few months. There are many Jersey families with sick children who are not as fortunate as myself and therefore I would be most grateful if you could make a donation via my Justgiving page.
