Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I know Icolyn Smith's son Norman and her daughters-in-law, June and Lorna and they all dedicate a lot of time and effort to helping her to organise and run this essential service for the less fortunate members of Oxford's wonderfully diverse community. I went along to the 25th year anniversary celebration last Friday which was attended by the people who use the Oxford Community Soup Kitchen, the volunteers who run it, members of the affiliated church group, local residents and at least one MP Andrew Smith. It was heart-warming to feel the acceptance and empathy that everyone there seemed to feel for each other in spite of the widely differing nature of their backgrounds and lifestyles.
Because it is an entirely voluntary organisation it relies on any funding it can get to keep going (as well as the goodwill and hard work of the volunteers and trustees). Hence, each pound raised will make a significant difference to whether or not this service can continue and, in these times of so-called 'austerity' that is more critical than ever.
Thank you
