Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In November I embark on a personal challenge, a chance of a life time to sail across the Atlantic. We will sail on Leopard 3, one of the fastest racing yachts in the world. Sailing from Tenerife to Antigua some 3,000 miles, we are aiming to achieve this is in 8-11 days (depending on weather).

I want to combine this personal challenge to raise much needed funds for Greenfingers.  A donation of any amount however small or big would be greatly appreciated or 1p per mile  (£30.00) would give greenfingers a fantistic boost.

Green Fingers create magical gardens for children's hospices.

To date, Greenfingers has designed and delivered 40 hospice gardens and is dedicated to creating further beautiful and inspiring outdoors spaces for children with life-limiting conditions to enjoy with family, friends and siblings, whether through play and fun, or therapeutic rest and relaxation. The charity is driven by the belief that time spent outdoors, away from the bedside, can offer children and families under considerable stress a vital opportunity to embrace the benefits of being in the fresh air and engaging with the natural environment.

The ‘Rosy Cheeks’ name represents the precious moment in time when a flush of warmth is brought to a child’s face when spending time outdoors. ‘Rosy Cheeks’ moments are even more vital to children in the care of hospices, giving them the chance to embrace the simple pleasures many of us take for granted – the pleasure of enjoying the natural world, away from the pressures of their conditions.

Leopard is a passage record breaker and a race winning super maxi in a radical new design concept. The structural design and detailing have been supplied by Farr Yacht Design while the interior styling is by Design Unlimited. The yacht is 30 metres long, 6.8 metres wide, has a 5.5 metre draft, a 4.5 metre fixed bowsprit, one towering 47 metre mast and the keel cants 40 degrees either side of centreline.

With her innovative design technology and cutting edge performance, Leopard is a hugely potent racing machine. Having already topped 40 knots, she is a major contender in any regatta or offshore yacht race.

She has won many famous races  including Antigua Race Week, Cowes Week Regatta, Rolex Fastnet Race and Rolex Sydney Hobart Regatta to name a few.
