Story
As many of you know I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in August 2010. I have worked as a Commercial Bank Manager at The Royal Bank of Scotland operating between Bury and Rochdale .After Surgery, chemotherapy and Radiotherapy , I eventually managed to return to work on the 2nd Feb this year, only to be told on the 8th February that unfortunately, my cancer has returned , and has spread into several places. My career ended that day and I started treatment the week after.
During my treatment, I have attended Bury Cancer Support Centre ( Charity number 1105130), where there is always someone there to talk to who understands what you are going through. Its not a gloomy place, far from it ! We enjoy reflexology, massage, Reiki , Bowen etc, and the centre is open 3 days a week, but is funded purely on donations . The centre costs in excess of £1500 per week to run , and the centre is looking to secure their own premises and be available 5 days .Its for people and their family who are LIVING with cancer , but also anyone who is suffering from the effects of someone close to them who has/had cancer .
So, my 28 year career came to an end after 3.5 days back at work, so I decided to have a big leaving do .We have live music, amazing Raffle prizes , silent auction. The local Bank branches are each hosting their own fundraising before the night, and the week before, one barmy friend is having his back waxed and hair shaved to support my charity . I'm hoping to raise some serious money for a local charity very close to my heart .
