13 years ago a good friend of mine Rachel Hogan jetted off to the jungle to volunteer for Ape Action Africa for a 3 month stint, but a two week old  gorilla named Nkan Daniel arrived and stole her heart. A victim of the illegal meat trade Rachel hand reared him and promised him she would stay until he returned to the jungle where he belonged, Nkan has now returned but Rachel is still there working tirelessly to stop the illegal meat trade and caring for the victims of this horrific crime.
