Story
Ted has been relinquished into Scruples care at just over a year old. He was born with cataracts in both eyes. He is a lovely calm and loving dog and adores cuddles. If you are talking to him and he is sitting listening he moves his head from side to side, "Yes, I know everything you are saying", he thinks.
The decision has been made to operate sooner rather than later to improve his quality of life. As many of us humans know living with cataracts can be very demoralising. Being a sighthound Ted of course is dependant on good sight. Both eyes have been examined and have under gone scans and pressure readings.
The operation itself is very similar to that of a humans one, where they will make two incisions to take the cataracts out. Ted will remain at the Veterinary Surgery over night so they can monitor his eye pressure. For a month after surgery he will have to remain on harness walks to avoid any sudden movement to the neck causing pressure to lead up to the eyes.
Ted is now on prescribed medication ready for the operation next week. This is the first time Scruples Whippet Rescue has had to raise an appeal of this kind, so please if you can donate towards Ted's operation we would be most grateful. However small it all makes the difference.
