Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Early in April 2015, we are planning to Kayak the length of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. We are doing this to raise funds for Rosemere Cancer treatment unit and Royal Preston Neo natal unit.

We are doing this to say thankyou to Rosemere and Neo Natal for how much they have done for our friend Emma Grandison and her daughter Erin.

Emma had developed a pain in her side when she was pregnant, her GP thought she might have gallstones and sent her for a scan. Unfortunately it revealed her liver was full of tumours, and Emma was diagnosed with bowel cancer that had spread to her liver and was now terminal. Due to the aggressive nature of the cancer she had to make the difficult decision to start chemotherapy whilst still pregnant. Baby Erin was delivered shortly after treatment began, 15 weeks early and weighing just 1llb 10 oz. With her mothers fight and spirit and the dedication from the neo natal team Erin is now thriving at home with mummy and daddy.

Sadly Emma passed away on 05 Feb 2015 with Ian by her side, we want to continue this challenge in her memory, as it is what she would have wanted.

Thankyou for taking time to read this, hopefully it explains why these charities are important to us and all her friends family and colleagues.
