Story
So everyone knows the story of our gorgeous wee boy Kai Laidlaw who just turned 3 years old on 16 December 2015. Kai has been fighting an aggressive form of leukaemia (Infant ALL) since he was 8 months and has had a lot of complications and relapsed a number of times. Kai has fought courageously with a massive smile, determination and a formidable resilience to Mr Leukaemia but the bully that he is took over our sons body and kai gained his angel wings on Monday 18th January 2016.
We have always wanted Kai's brutal journey to count to make a difference by raising awareness of Childhhod Cancer not to scare but to alert families to the fact that Childhood Cancer is real and does not discriminate, seek knowledge and know the signs as that is power. We also try and raise pennies when and were we can for charities that help families of children with cancer.
So Kai's first legacy and therefore the most important one is to help raise funds for the new toddler room in Kais memory at the new purpose built CCLASP Centre at the site of the New Sick Kids next to the Royal Infirmary at Little France called the "Howat Foundation CCLASP Centre". The funds raised will help pick a theme and furnish everything in that room which will be costly as we have to think of everything, we want it to be of a high standard with everything a baby/toddler deserves when they are a baby with cancer. We know first hand the problems, heartache, frustration we encountered with Kai with lack of services so we feel we can help future families and help build a good playful environment and with Kai's cheeky influence it will be amazing.
The pennies donated at Kai's service will be posted to this page. We have had a few requests from friends who can not attend but wanted to donate and we wanted to make a difference and we find that making Kai's journey count will hopefully help us as a family through time.
Thank you very much for always caring for our Beautiful Boy X
