Story
The Arc is an arts' centre specialising in arts and community projects with young people and people with disabilities. Over the space of a year 6000 young people and adults take part in a wide variety of sessions, classes and projects. Some go on to work as mentors or assistants helping to design events and projects. The 57 wonderful volunteers, 29 of whom have registered special needs, are a vital part of the operation. The Arc has alos been credited with reducing the level of antisocial behaviour in the area by giving the youth in the community an outlet.
Over the past three years there have been, amongst others:
36 youth shows
22 disability arts shows
7 murder mystery events
4 art exhibitions
6 community projects
I take part in the adult drama group and through this have experienced the great work The Arc does for the local community. There are several funding streams beginning in September but at the moment soft play is a major source of income. The hot weather, fantastic though it is, has reduced this to almost zero and until September there is a very heavy reliance on it.
I would be very grateful if you could help me raise some money for this cause. On Saturday 3rd August we are holding an Ann Summers themed Saucy Bingo event! I will be wearing an appropriately, jaw-droppingly, embarrassing outfit and being a waitress Please, please, please make this a bearable evening for me by donating a few quid.
