Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Steve had the opportunity to run in the 2015 London Marathon and raised over £2,000 for Macmillan Caring Locally. The experience as a spectator was both amazing and emotional. We decided to try and get a place to run together in 2016 (7 days after I celebrate my 50th birthday!!)and we have been fortunate to both get a place running for our local Macmillan Unit.
Steve is now of course an experienced marathon runner; I am an experienced 5/10k runner and have only ever ran 1 Half-Marathon - so this is going to be a huge personal challenge.....and a huge challenge for Steve to run slowly at my pace!!
The charity is close to our hearts. In November 2012, Dad was diagnosed with mesothelioma and given weeks to live. He was in Bournemouth Hospital for a week before being transferred to the care of the Macmillan Unit. It was a traumatic time for us all, but at least Dad was given the specialist end-of-life care he required by the amazing nurses and medical staff and we knew he was more comfortable in those final few days.
Please support Steve and I raise money again for the Unit that cared for Dad as well as many other family friends.
