Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I have been accepted to volunteer in a rural school in Northern India for five months with Lattitude Global Volunteering in 2012. This will be an amazing experience. I hope to contribute to the community I will be working with, gain skills and experience and to return to the UK better equipped to continue my studies. I hope to train as a primary teacher after I complete my Art History degree at Glasgow Uni.
I have been saving hard and organising fundraising events – selling homemade cards and quizzes, organising a ‘Pudding Party.’ I have also been out training as my sister, Alex, and I are running a sponsored 5K in Edinburgh on December 4 - this is a special challenge for me as I was born with a congenital dislocation of the hip and had major surgery as a young girl.
I had no expectation of reaching the initial target of £1000 towards the £3500 I need for the project. This week we hit £1000 already! I am astounded! I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of friends and family, thank you so much to everyone who supported me so far. On Wednesday, Alex and I raised £56.85 on my stall at the Walkerburn Ladies Night and have received 2 donations for funds I applied to. Thank you everyone!
