I have two reasons for running the Edinburgh marathon. In August, I am turning 40 and wanted set myself a challenge. Many people might think I am daft, maybe I am, but once I have set my mind on something I am determined to do it.
The main reason I want to run the marathon is inspired by my little girl, Rosie.
Rosie has a right sided hemiplegia caused by a stroke when I was pregnant due to complications. Rosie was born on the morning of the Great North Run in Newcastle. She didn't walk until she was 3 and half and her determination inspired me to run the Great North Run. I had never ran before so I started training using the coach to 5k app. I trained hard and completed it. I have since completed two more times.
Training for the Marathon has proven to be the greatest challenge I have ever had. Physically and mentally but Rosie faces great challenges and obstacles every day. I am so incredibly proud of her, I want to inspire my daughter, show her that if she wants to do something if she puts her mind to it she can achieve anything. I will finish this marathon!
The charity I am running for is HemiChat.
HemiChat is a charity that unites families affected by Hemiplegia, enabling them to share support, information and life experiences thus allowing all children with Hemiplegia to grow up knowing that they are not alone in their life journey. Through this charity I have met an amazing group of people who I have received great support from and I hope I have given support in return.
Thank you for looking at my Just Giving page and if you choose to donate I am incredibly grateful for your kind generosity.
Love Kat xx
