Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the Toronto Marathon to raise money for a charity which helped save my Dad's life. Just 16 months ago my Dad suffered a brain hemorrhage while at his holiday home in deepest Argyle. Thanks for the quick acting (and driving of a neighbour) and of the hospital team at both Lochgliphead and Oban Hospital my father was given a fighting chance. The life saving bit came from an air ambulance ride from Oban to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where in less than 2 hours he was under one of Scotland's the top neuro surgeon's scalpel. Without the Air Ambulance, the time it would have taken to get my Dad to hospital in Glasgow could have resulted in much more damage and we don't think too much about that.
So needless to say running (slowly with a broken collarbone) is the least that I can do to raise some money to help keep the air ambulances in the sky and to the amazing work the crew and paramedics do each day.
This marathon is not about the time, it's about being able to get round 26 miles and smile, collecting another medal will be the best part of the day and raising as much money as I can.
