My husband James and I suffered the devastating loss of our daughter Ruby Rose at 35 weeks in April 2015. The cause was ICP.
We have done many things to raise money already. The next challenge is for James and his best man Dave (who's partner has also suffered from ICP) to run the Bristol Half Marathon on the 25th September 2016. We are grateful for any amount that you are willing to sponsor them for a charity that means a lot to all of us.
Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is the most common pregnancy-specific liver condition, affecting around 5000 women each year in the UK alone. The main symptom for the mother is itching – which can be extremely debilitating – and in some cases it can result in stillbirth. There is shockingly little known about how this condition effects unborn babies and researchers are still a long way off from fully understanding the condition.
We are posting this message in Ruby Rose's memory, to raise awareness of this condition and to ask you to donate anything you can towards ICP Support. ICP Support's aims are to:
- provide information and support to people affected by ICP
- raise awareness of ICP
- promote research into ICP
Who knows, maybe we can help stop other mummies and daddies and their families going through this heartbreak. Thank you.
