Story

Preventing Violent Extremism in Brussels, Rehabilitation of Syrian Refugees, Nonviolent Mobilisation of conflict-affected Youth, Improving the Professional Peacebuilding field, Healing and Empowerment of children in Lebanon and Jordan, ....

IAHV Peacebuilding Offers Programs that effectively transform mind-sets, attitudes, behaviour and well-being of individuals and communities involved in or affected by conflict or violence.

This way, they address a fundamental gap in peacebuilding thinking, practice and policies today. The programs build the necessary psycho-social foundation to prevent violence and extremism and to strengthen a self-sustaining peace. IAHV has worked on trauma-relief of survivors, rehabilitation of perpetrators, re-integration of ex-combatants, youth leadership and women’s empowerment, prevention of extremism, and leadership development initiatives in areas beset by conflict, including Iraq, Kosovo, Kashmir, Sri Lanka, Ivory Coast, Israel-Palestine, India, Lebanon and South Africa.

The challenge is not in convincing people or organizations of the need or our innovative approach, but to ensure enough human and financial resources so that we can address critical needs in the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

Launched in 2013, IAHV Peacebuilding builds on the unique track record of the International Association of Human Values, a UN-affiliated non-profit operating in over 144 countries, making IAHV one of the biggest volunteer organizations in the world.

IAHV Peacebuilding focuses its work in the following areas:

(1) Trauma Relief, Resilience & Empowerment;
(2) Bridging Divided Communities with Dialogue & Reconciliation;
(3) Preventing & Transforming Violent Extremism; and
(4) Training Professional Peacebuilding & Development Agencies.

About the charity

The International Association for Human Values (IAHV) was founded in Geneva in 1997, to foster, on a global scale, deeper understanding of the values that unite us as a human community. Our aim is to promote an awareness of the importance of human values, encourage their development, and to initiate and support projects in the UK and throughout the world that meet the fundamental objectives of the IAHV organisation in Human Values (and which meet our criteria).
