Story

Dear Friends,

In January 15 Mum's from Bury Grammar School asked me to join them on The 3 Peaks Challenge. Having gained too much weight over Christmas I thought this sounded like a good idea so I signed up not really knowing what was involved! Now initiated, I understand we will be climbing the 3 highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales within a 24 hour deadline including transport between all 3 locations!

Our training has been hard in difficult winter conditions. I think this will be a one off challenge for me (unless some weird addiction kicks in soon!!!)

Whilst I have been in training my Father has endured a much harder challenge....a fight against cancer. He was an inspiration and tackled his illness with bravery and good humour throughout. Sadly Dad lost his battle and peacefully passed away on 10 /04/12. Over the last couple of months my training has declined but I will be honored to complete this challenge in my Father's memory.

Dad was supported by the St Giles Hospice at Home team and I saw at first hand what a fantastic service the hospice provides. I have nothing but praise for the work that the Hospice does and the support it gives to families like mine during such difficult times.

Sorry for the lateness in getting organised with my challenge, but time is now of the essence as I will be attempting this challenge on Saturday 12th May. I urge you to act quickly and sponsor me today!
