Story

2012 will be marking our dear John's 21st birthday! John was a typical young boy, full of charm, energy and character and would only ever wear his Manchester United gear! Wherever we went, he never failed to light up a room and put a smile on everyone's face, with a great sense of humour and a laugh that was infectious. He loved driving his electric car around the garden, enjoyed everything Disney, Lion King being his favourite and John Smith in Pocahontas. His favourite television show was The Gladiators and he met many of them, except his favourite The Wolfman. However, Rhino became a strong supportive friend and even visited John at home, when he became too ill to go out.

But, who could ever forget his lions ‘roar’ and Michael Jackson
dance?

Sadly, John lost his battle with cancer when he was just 5 years old,
after a brave fight. So to celebrate John's birthday and to honour our
brave little soldiers short life, we have built a team of family and
friends who will all be fund-raising for The Neuroblastoma Society in
their own unique way!

So what have we got planned? Well to kick start it all, we have a team
of three who will be completing the ultimate triathlon the 'IRONMAN
CHALLENGE.' Our team is made up of Keith Hunt (Dad), Peter Johnson and Chris Lamport. The challenge events are a 26.22 mile marathon (including 3 miles of cross country and 3 hills), plus a 3.0 (was 2.4) miles swim and a 112 miles cycle along the Olympic route. The only qualification required to enter this event is to have a screw loose! This will  all happen on Sunday 5th August 2012.

Not only have we got this all going on but, we also have Zoe Hunt and Joe Tilley preparing themselves for a 12,000ft SKYDIVE! ALL funds
raised will go to the charity as the divers will be paying their own
way in this event. This is booked for Saturday 4th August 2012.

Also, we have Caroline Hunt (Mum), who this year has decided that all money spent on presents and cards will be donated. So do not be upset if you do not receive your birthday or christmas card in the post this year because the money has gone to an extremely worthwhile cause. Likewise, in return, we ask that you donate any money to the cause and not send us cards or presents. Caroline has already kick-started the fundraising with a sale and raffle. She is responsible for co-ordinating the day and ensuring that marshalls are present on the day. Please note that this is throughout 2012.

Janet has forfeited her Costa coffee treat on route to work each day and has pledged the money saved to support the Event.

Elaine and Rob have joined us to walk 10Km, a section of the marathon route, on 5th August.

Also, Veronica Hill is walking 10Km along Pilgrims Way. Barclays Bank have provisionally agreed to match her sponsorship form £ for £, so Veronica will use her own form to fund-raise.

Adrian has volunteered to do a tri-event comprising of a 21 miles walk, a 21 miles cycle and 2.1 miles swim, re-scheduled for 2nd and 3rd August, on Hayling Island.

By TEXT message, you can sponsor easily. To send (say) £10, just text XXRH77 £10 to 70070
