WHY ARE WE 'SLEEPING ROUGH'?
Hove Business Association have been supporting OFF THE FENCE, as their chosen Charity this year. There are many homeless and rough sleeprs in the Brighton and Hove area. Off the Fence, not only provide food, but also bedding, toiletries etc. In other words, things to make life that much easier for these vulnerable people. Things that we all take for granted in our usual lives.
£20 will buy a new sleeping bag
£10 will feed them for a few days
PLEASE support the four of us from Hove Business Association, who will be getting, cold and damp on November 16th
WE DID IT !
The four of us arrived at the chosen place, with about 12 others. We prepared our 'sites' and laid out the bedding and made up boxes to cover us. The weather was not too bad, with the temperarture dropping to about 5 degrees.
All settled down for a good nights??? sleep about 11.30pm.
NEVER did I realise that concrete can be so hard, despite cardboard, mats etc under me! I could not get comfortable and my hip bones started to hurt. I just rolled around all night trying to get comfortable.....NOT easy. I don't think I slept, just dozed for a bit, then awake for long periods.
The stories of 'rough sleepers', from Paul Young of 'Off The Fence' were mind boggling! I am just so gratefull that I didn't have to sleep rough the next night and next night and next....! It was a mind blowing experience and has put everything into perspective for me to realise how fortunate most of us are, that we have a warm, comfy bed to go home to !!
A BIG thanks to all who have supported us. We still need MORE, so if you haven't donated, please do. Off the Fence have just ordered 300 sleeping bags to cover the winter period and they have to be paid for !! PLEASE keep up the good work and support us and this wonderful charity. THANK YOU
