Story
We had to try an early summit due to bad weather and sadly missed the top by 150m or so, altitude sickness taking its toll, the final stretch being pretty technical. Seven hours up, then a painful 12 hours down was really tough. Still spectacular though especially dawn as we went into Russia.

I did think about hanging up my crampons last year, definitely getting too old and creaky for this. But the Caucasus Mountains and Ararat were fascinating, historically and culturally, and Mount Kazbek, at over 5000m, is Georgia's highest and supposed to be spectacular. Not sure about sleeping on the floor of a weather hut but let's see if we get that far, in mid-June it will still be extreme weather...
