Story
Amelia was born by emergency section at 32 weeks making her 8 weeks premature she was a tiny 3lb 4oz at her lowest weight when she was first born she got taken away and was breathing by herself a short while later her tiny lungs were just to tired so they decided to put a ventilator in it was 5 hours later my husband was allowed to see her i will never forget his face when he came back to the ward and showed me the picture of amelia with tubes everywhere the first night she had a small bleed on the brain we spent 5 long days watching this tiny little person not allowed to touch her just watch her and listen to the machines then we got told we were allowed a cuddle the moment id been waiting for the scbu nurse bundled her up and passed her to me the way the nurse handled amelia i will never forget i was terrified as she was so small the scbu nurses answer dont be scared they come in smaller sizes than this! from that moment i didnt look at amelia been this tiny little fragile baby she was a fighter my little fighter day by day she got stronger then we went in one day and the ventilator was gone replaced by a thing called a cpap machine the scbu nurse sat us down explained what it was and said amelia would need it for a good few days amelia thought diffrent 2 days later it was down finally i could see my babys face not tubes or drips in her head just her perfect face, day by day amelia continued to get stronger at 2 weeks old she had to have a repeat brainscan we were terrified the scbu nurses stepped in explained why she needed it when she got it we got the best news ever amelias bleed she had at birth had vanished no scarring nothing. About 3 days later we went into the unit to the intensive care room and amelia wasnt there the scbu nurse had a big grin on her face and goes shes been promoted shes out of intensive care and is in the scbu nursery it turns out we actually walked passed her so we turned back to the nursery and a nurse goes suprise! Amelia from then on just got stronger and stronger when she was 4 weeks old we walked out that scbu doors with our amazing little fighter in tow! Amelia is nearly 10 months old now and has no medical issues at all we decided that for her first birthday we would take Amelia back to scbu to present them with a cheque as a thankyou so have Amelias fundraiser day planned the scbu nurses are not just people they are amazing special people who put 100% into the care they give our babies so please even if its just £1 you donate every single penny goes straight to the special care baby unit to help the next baby that comes threw there door.
