Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Ken was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in September 2011. After successful treatment and a long recovery he was able to spend time with his loving family and friends, return to work, play a bit of cricket and travel to many countries.
Unfortunately in September 2013 a new, inoperable tumour was found and Ken passed away on the morning of Saturday, 23 November 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Ken never once complained about his illness or his lot. He was so very brave and we are grateful for the extra time we were able to spend with him.
In his memory we wish to support these three charities which mean a lot to us. You can read about them and why they are important to us on their respective pages.
The Beacon
In the final weeks of Ken’s life he was cared for at home by his family with the help from the wonderful nurses and health care assistants who work as part of a Specialist Community Cancer and Palliative Care Service based at The Beacon in Guildford.
Ken was looked after with the utmost dignity and respect. The compassion and care we all received from each member of staff helped give us the strength we needed to go on.
The Beacon Care at Home Team are funded partly through donations to The Friends of the Beacon and we wish to raise money for them so that other families may have the reassurance of receiving the care and support from this wonderful service at such a difficult time.
