Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In the summer of 2013, I took a group to the Nagajuna Modern School near Pokhara, Nepal. The school is mainly for orphaned children and was founded by Yeshi Gyaltsen, himself an orphan, who had vowed to help other kids since he was young. Children lose their parents through illness, mishap such as landslides, even suicide when they cannot cope any longer. Some parents have given up their children as they cannot afford to feed them. The school provides accommodation, food, care and love and, very importantly, an education.
In my work as a leader and guide, I see many such projects around the World and I encourage others to get involved but this time, it was me that was struck by the enormous efforts being made my Yeshi, and the enthusiasm of the children to make better lives.
Climbing mountains, bike rides and charity events is what I do for a living but what I know little about is fund raising and how to find the money for the school, which is only half built and could accommodate more children. Money is needed every month to run the school but the children also need fresh drinking water as they currently drink from the river. Their diet is lacking in fruit and vegetables and they sometimes cannot afford medical care.
So, I'm asking you to help me raise the cash we need to support these children. Your donations, support, ideas and links to others will help me in my challenge. So, please give something if you can and do pass the word onto others and I welcome any suggestions as to fund raising.
