Story
Hello!
I am raising money for the Elizabeth foundation who
supported us when my son Harry was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome at birth. One
of the effects was to leave him severely deaf and thanks to the Elizabeth
foundation we had were not alone when faced with the prospect of being unable
to communicate with our son. Without them we would have been alone and helpless
in supporting Harry at this critical time I n his development.
As with Harry, for many children, being deaf is just one of
the challenges they face, but to at least be able to communicate with him took
a huge weight off our shoulders and was something we will never forget.
The Elizabeth Foundation helps very young deaf children,
from 7 weeks of age up to 5 years learn to listen and speak. Their early intervention programme gives
these children the opportunity to learn these vital communication tools to help
them flourish in life, to go onto the school of their choice, to make friends
with their hearing peers. Families are
also given ongoing emotional and practical support to help them come to terms
with a deaf diagnosis for their child and how to live with a deaf child in the
family – many of the children that attend are born into hearing families.
Because of the unbelievable start the Elizabeth foundation
gave Harry he is now attending school and has been able to exceed expectations
particularly in his reading and communication skills.
Now, we have the opportunity to put something back and with
your help I hope to raise over £2000 as a small thank you to all the team at
the Elizabeth Foundation who helped keep us going during some very dark days.
Please give generously so that kids like Harry continue to get the very best
start in life and parents like us continue to have a place to go when faced
with the challenges of having a child with severe hearing difficulties. It is
unimaginable what it would have been like without them.
thank you so much for your donation, it means a lot.
