Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My son was recently diagnosed with Duchenne Musular Dystrophy. This disease results in all muscles within the body degrading over time, as the body is unable to produce dystrophin, the chemical required to repair muscle tissue, due to a genetic flaw. Unfortunately this disease significantly impacts mobility and life expectancy (the heart is also a muscle). Fortunately many great minds are working to develop a treatment (known as exon skipping), which overcomes the flaw - the goal is to provide this treatment, and also a synthetic dystrophin by late 2014 - however all this reaseach requires significant finance - This is where Joining Jack and Action Duchenne come in - fundraising and funnelling funds for this essential research.
