Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
I was diagnosed with this terrible disease in October 2014.Since then I have been through chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a whole bunch of other things to slow the pace of the cancer down. My prognosis remains somewhat short term.
At the moment things have stabilised. However, I know that time for running is short so it is likely that 2016 will be the last time I can undertake a big race.
The Marathon Des Sables (MDS) is a 150+ mile race where competitors are self sufficient for a week carrying everything on their backs across the Sahara. the longest day is a double marathon and the whole race is run over endless sand dunes and mountain ranges in temperatures approaching 50 degrees. You Tube has lots of footage if you are interested.
Training to date has been tough and certainly not helped by my situation however I will do my best to be as fit as possible for this event. I hope you understand that if something happens to stop me doing this race you may end up 'Just Giving' but I promise I will do my utmost for the only thing on my bucket list.
I have paid all costs involved in this event personally so any donation will go direct to the charity who are helping increase awareness (early diagnosis can save lives) and find a cure for those who have it.
