Story
Thanks for visiting this page and supporting this great cause.
I have set this page up for a very personal reason; my Mum will be celebrating 40 years after her kidney transplant; which in itself is a remarkable feat! But without her having this transplant 40 years ago, I would not be here nor would my brother and all the experiences that I have had throughout my life would never would have happened.
However, 40 years ago, it was not easy trying to get a transplant, because my mum was only 9 years old and the hospitals were tentative about doing operations at such a young age. However they did, and I can;t thank them enough for all for the amazing work that they did then and have over the last 40 years, with special thanks to Birmingham and Oxford. But also to all those involved with the research and developement of the treatments and drugs which have enabled more and more people to live long and fulfilling lives with a range of transplants.
I will be running a year long fundraising campaign up to the 40th anniversary on 07 June 2016; raising the awareness of kidney disease and the support available to people and families with conditions. We are supporting the NKF as they provide assistance to people with kidney disease across the country, in addition to raising the public awareness, and support for the cause. A problem which my family faced 40 years ago, and which has now been changed with the work that charities like the NKF have done over the years.
I, along with the rest of my family are going to be doing a range of events throughout the year, and I will keep you all updated as and when an event is happening. Asking people to help support us.
