Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday August 24th I am walking from Tayport to the seals at Tentsmuir for the first time in over 6 years to fund raise for the MS Therapy Centre Tayside. Before my Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, this was my weekend walk and I loved it. Over the years, MS has affected my walking and the 8kms, most of it on sand, has been too much for me to even contemplate trying.
2012 was an important year, I found the MS Therapy Centre in Dundee and with it, I found a community that understands what I am living with. Hyper Baric Oxygen Therapy really helps, it was wonderful to feel the benefits straight away, something positive at last. And being able to share my experience of life with MS with others, to laugh, to cry, to support each other, is just brilliant. The MS Therapy Centre at Peddie St., Dundee is much more than somewhere we get HBO treatment, it’s a life saver!
In 2012 I also found Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis, a positive lifestyle programme of diet, meditation, exercise and vitamin D supplementation that aims to help people live long, healthy lives without the usual problems associated with MS. I have stuck to it rigorously and am really happy to say that for me, it’s working. I now have fewer symptoms and much more energy.
I used to take between 3 and 4 hours to walk from Tayport round the Tentsmiur headland to the seal colony on the sandbars and back, depending on how long I sat on the beach watching the seals. Heaven knows how long it will take now, walking on sand is not the easiest.
With my best friend Melissa by my side, I am determined to do it to support the wonderful work of the MS Therapy Centre Tayside. I really appreciate your helping me fund raise for this great cause, thank you!
