Story
Let's make a difference!
How many years of education is investigated into each of us? We have an ambitious task to secure funds to allow each child in Tien village to attend school not for 1 year, but for 10 years!
Reaching our target of US$100,000 would secure 10 years of education for even the youngest current attending student.
Every child deserves the right to education and we truly believe this. We have a mission to raise money and awareness for United World Schools. Providing them with an education means they are less at risk to sex trafficking, early marriage, and child slave labour.
We are setting off on an ambitious journey because we don't want to just help, we want to make a difference.
LPCUWC is partnered with the UWS school in Tien Village. Currently, close to 150 children are attending classes regularly. The "school bell" clangs as a metal rod is banged against an old metal wheel rim. Six year olds chaperone their younger siblings up the dusty road to the wooden classrooms; eight year olds scuffle and clamber barefoot to see the visiting the new foreign faces; eleven year olds take the cows to field before running back down the hill to sit on the benches. The children want to be in school. The children need to be in school.
Every dollars counts. Every life matters. You can make a difference.
Funds are needed immediately; by the end of this year (Dec 31st 2015) US$8000 is needed with for priorities below:
New platform for school building – $1,500
Updated teaching resources and learning equipment – $2,000
Improve library resources and selection of reading books – $500
Ongoing teacher support, development and training – $1,000
Individual school bags and stationery @ $2 per student – $500
Staffing salaries need also to be included.
Many of us will graduate from a UWC and seek our own definition of success in many fields: Law, Medicine, Finance, NGO, Environmental; Politics, Engineering, Education. The mark of success is not “how much you make”, but “what difference you make”.
Together, let's Teach the Unreached.
Thank you,
