Story
Cpl Kendell's wife works as an Emergency Medical Technician and has dealt with numerous cardiac arrest situations. She now runs her own first aid training business and trains the teaching staff at our Cherry Tree Academy’s and St Martins of Shouldham school. It's in a very rural location and the government 999 emergency response target for a category A call is 8 minutes, this will very unlikely be met.
After the heart goes into cardiac arrest the target is 3 minutes to have
a defibrillator on the patient’s chest to have the best chance of survival. Without it, the patient only has up to 6% chance of survival, with the machine they have up to a staggering 74% chance of
survival. This machine isn’t just for the children as it is fully compatible for adults too. It is not law that places of work or schools
should have them but with the percentages mentioned it is pure common sense to have them. Unfortunately schools have a very limited budget and wouldn’t stretch to £950 for a defibrillator. RAF Marham's Logistics Sqn has chosen this charity to support, and this race is just 1 of many fundraising initiatives.
