Story
We are running the Great North Run this year in support of the Susan Channon Breast Cancer Trust as part of a team put together by the Breast Surgeons at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle.
Susan Channon was a 36year old lady who sadly died from breast cancer following a 3 year battle with the disease. She was a young mother and lab technician at the RVI. Her husband set up the charity to enable healthcare professionals in the North East to access the most up-to-date and cutting edge technologies in the research and treatment of breast cancer.
We both work as healthcare professional in Newcastle and have had several friends and family members who have been affected by this disease so we are honoured to be able to run in support of this charity and hope to raise some money in the process to help fund the wonderful work that it does to support patients in the North East.
Neither of us have run much recently so it is exciting (and also a bit daunting!) to be back on the road. It is Laura's second GNR (hoping to beat a time of 1h 51min in 2013) and Patrick's first GNR (he has done a sneaky marathon though with a split time of 1h 51min) so we are looking forward to training together and will no doubt be having a little race between ourselves on the day.
Any donations towards this fabulous cause (as well as motivation to us to get some training done) would be more than appreciated and thank you in advance for any support we receive!! :)
Love from,
Laura and Patrick xxx
