I am on the design team for the inspiring charity Cameroon Catalyst. Without fundraising, Cameroon Catalyst cannot build the much needed projects that improve countless lives. Cameroon Catalyst is an international development charity focused on promoting sustainable development in the Eastern region of Cameroon, and was founded in 2009. The charity brings together students, engineers and  specialists to develop projects which are carefully researched, well designed and fulfill a real need.

Our mission is to be a catalyst for sustainable change in rural Cameroon. We aim to achieve this by building infrastructure projects which empower local communities, and give them the tools to develop and grow long beyond our projects completion.

Student involvement is at the heart of the charity and crucial to our success. Supported by a team of dedicated trustees, the student teams lead the design, construction and fundraising  of the projects and provides fantastic hands-on experience in engineering development and the not-for-profit sector.

Between 2009 and 2014, the charity focused on  issues within the village of Bambouti. The work completed made a significant impact on the village, bringing healthcare, improved education and a secure electricity supply.

Research conducted in 2013 showed that that water and sanitation were still major issues in the region surrounding Bambouti. The charity has now  started a new 5-year scheme of works aimed at addressing these serious issues  with a range of measures, including the construction of new wells and latrines.
