To mark my retirement from the police service I decided to take on a challenge which in my case is the New York Marathon on 6th November 2016, having only ran one previous marathon in 1992!!!!

In doing so I wanted to take the opportunity to raise money and awareness for Lupus UK primarily because of a family member who has the condition.  I am also aware of a number of other people living with Lupus and understand their daily struggle, the symptoms of which can be many and varied ranging from mild to life threatening.  Lupus is one of many auto immune disease's and is relatively unknown, therefore doesn't attract the kind of support other charities benefit from.  I am hoping to raise awareness and vital money to help those with the condition and to develop research in this field.
