Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am raising money for a charity that I believe is incredibly important. The Prison Reform Trust are an independent organisation that rely on donations. They represent the under-represented; imprisoned women and men, young people and old people. I will be partaking in a charitable Skydive to help raise awareness for this charity and I will also be making a short documentary on this experience.
But why am I doing this? Simple. I believe in equality and I believe in humanity. I recently went to a male Prison and I saw a grown man cry. I don't know what his crime was but if there is a chance I can help, even in a small way to change his life and make sure he never returns to prison, then I want to do it. The prison system, in my opinion, does not work. Our prisons are overcrowded and a large percentage of inmates re-offend. Mental illness, homelessness and addictions all play a huge part in this and these issues are highlighted by the Prison Reform Trust. They say that "the general public, Parliament and those responsible for incarcerating offenders should be fully informed about the state and effectiveness of our criminal justice system" And so, I will try my best to inform you all.
They aim to:
1. reduce unnecessary imprisonment and promoting community solutions to crime.
2. improve treatment and conditions for prisoners and their families
3. promote equality and human rights in the justice system.
Please help me by donating whatever you can.
