Story
Hello everybody - Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
As many of you know, I am currently raising money for a project that is close to my heart.
The project is to undertake fundraising to pay for and subsequently assist in the construction of a new kitchen facility at a school run by the charity ‘Children Of The Forest’ (COF) in Sangkhlaburi in northern Thailand. The facility will be used to provide a cooked meal for all the pupils at lunch time and evening meals for the students who live on site. It will also be used as a training facility to provide vocational skills for the children in catering.
COF is a UK based charity with a simple goal to provide a level of education, supported with a working knowledge of the Thai language to empower and protect the young and most vulnerable from exploitation in Thai society. Most of the children who attend the school are from the Karen, Mon and Burmese community many of whom are employed on an ad hoc basis on the local plantations. Because of the transient nature of the work the children are often left to fend for themselves while their parents travel far and wide seeking work. Unfortunately many do not return and the school becomes a permanent home and place of refuge.
The group that I am involved with is committed to raising £10,000 to cover the cost of the building work and each person must also raise money to pay air fares and living expenses while working on the project in July.
Any donation that you can make - no matter how big or small - would but greatly appreciated and will help me to make a real, positive difference in the lives of these children.
