Hello, let me explain how I come to be going on this mission?
One Sunday I was not able to worship at my own Church in the morning, so I attended St. Saviours Church that evening. It just happened to be the evening their vicar was launching this year's mission trip to Gulu in Uganda, and asking for volunteers. David explained that there would be two teams of people going, one to build and one to work with the women of 'Living Hope', a branch of Watoto which works with destitute women, some mutilated by war and some HIV +ve. In either case they have been ostracised from their village, and have lost their self esteem.
I felt drawn to this mission and he kindly allowed me to put my name forward for selection. Despite my age I got through!.. I have been allocated to the build team, and we will be building a home for 8 orphaned children and their house mother, so now my challenge is to keep up with the younger members of the team and not let them down. I am confident I can do this.
The bigger challenge is to raise £1800 {the cost of the trip}...my pension does not go very far!...I have been jam making and some kind friends have already sponsored me, helping me to raise £700 to date, for which I am extremely grateful. I am also planning a cup cake decorating session and cake sale, but it would be grand if you felt you could also sponsor me...I will be grateful for any amount you can spare....however if you don't feel able to help financially please will you pray for our safety and the success of our mission?
13th. June. I now have just £350 left to raise, many thanks to all who have helped me so far. people have been so kind.
Thank You, Vin.
My Mum would be 100 years old this year, and she would be really excited for me.
