At the beginning of June, I will be traveling to the fairly warm town of Oliver to compete in / try and complete my first (and no doubt last!) half ironman featuring a 2km swim in Tucelnuit Lake, a 93km cycle in the Okanagan Valley and a 21km run along the banks of the Okanagan River. 

To ensure I make it over the finish line, I have embarked on a 16 week training program that will progress to peak distances of 9kms swimming, 180kms cycling and 45kms running all within one week...and all around a day job...

Motivation will be my biggest challenge throughout training and on race day which is where you can help out - any donations of any shape or size towards Classrooms in the Clouds will not only be going to an incredible cause, but will support me through some pretty tough hours!

I have trekked in Nepal and know that it is a beautiful but very poor country. Education is widely regarded as the most effective means of helping people to secure a better future. Classrooms in the Clouds works in the Everest region in remote villages of the Solu Khumbu region supporting education by building classrooms and sponsoring teachers. Starting from modest groundings in August 2007, the charity has grown to become a relied upon stakeholder in the Solu Khumbu region, building over 5 schools and sponsoring 10 teachers over the past 8 years. CitC is voluntary run meaning the vast majority of your donation will be spent in Nepal where it is needed the most.

The earthquakes that hit Nepal in 2015 were the worst natural disaster Nepal has suffered since 1934, killing over 8,000 people, injuring more than 21,000 and rendering hundreds and thousands of people homeless. A number of schools built by CitC were impacted by the earthquake and the charity is working tirelessly to rebuild and reestablish these schools that have become the beacon for education in the region. Your donations will help support this work.
