Boxin Business Jersey White Collar Comeback, 8 October 2016

Story

I am currently in training for the "Don't Call it a  comeback" Boxin Business white collar event on 8th Oct 2016 and will return to the ring for three two minute rounds, the training is tough and the punches keep on coming..... I wanted to do this for a charity that is local and does not always get in the spot light of fundraising but provides an invaluable service.

Silkworth is a force of healing and hope for individuals, families and communities affected by addiction to alcohol and other drugs.

Their mission is that “Together, we will overcome addiction.”

"I have lived through addictions with close family and friends as well as being lucky enough to work with some of those who have benefited from the services of Silkworth in the past or who may need their support in the future. Silkworth is local and makes a real difference  to individuals, family and friends as well as our community as a whole. It's a life changer as well as a life saver and is there for all irrespective of class creed or colour, please dig deep and any donations to this amazing charity will be greatly appreciated, thank you"

Max (Lee) Madden

Silkworth Charity Group has been a pioneer in the treatment of alcohol and addiction in Jersey since 1994. Over the past 21 years, through its residential facility at Silkworth Lodge, the trust has treated more than 2,000 patients and their significant others. In the course of its work, Silkworth has had one predominant aim – to restore human dignity. It is an idea that is at the heart of everything they do at Silkworth and a belief that propels the mission of the charity.

The Charity helps rebuild lives and family relationships destroyed by substance abuse. The only drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in the Channel Islands, Silkworth provides vital support for our local community - through the charity’s recovery programme, which is tailor-made to the individual for the best chance of long-term success. It’s also delivered through their dedicated Family Programme, Community Drop-in centre, and through their Pre-treatment and Secondary Treatment Facilities which offer accommodation and support pre and post treatment.

Each person who comes to Silkworth is treated as an individual; with dignity and respect, in a safe, caring and non-judgmental environment.

The funds raised for Silkworth goes towards the development of their facilities and programmes offered to support the entire community - to ultimately help rebuild lives destroyed by substance abuse and give people hope and the chance to get their lives back.
