Story
Hi, my name is Leigh and I am riding in the 100 mile Ride London event on the 31st July 2016. This is to raise funds for the Fragile X Society in the UK and to raise awareness of Fragile X Syndrome. We are Australian and are also supporting the Fragile X Association of Australia.
Most of all though, I am riding for James, whose challenges ahead are enormous, but who inspires me every day.

In 2014 we were devastated to receive the news that our son
James had Fragile X Syndrome, an intellectual disability and the leading known cause of Autism. It is a rare genetic condition that will affect James for life, with no cure. Being a genetic condition, we now know there are a number of family members that are carriers of the condition, which can also cause various complications.
We moved to the UK from Australia in February 2015 and immediately
sought the support of the Fragile X Society in the UK (www.fragilex.org.uk).
The Society supports families affected by Fragile X, raises awareness in both
the public and medical communities and supports various research.
In Australia the Fragile X Association of Australia (www.fragilex.org.au) were an immense support to us when we got James' diagnosis. The association supports families living with Fragile X. This includes running specialised clinics, workshops and counselling. It also aims to raise public awareness of Fragile X Syndrome.
Thanks for taking the time to read our story and any donation you can make. Please share amongst your friends, family, Facebook, twitter, the wider we can distribute our message the more awareness of Fragile X we raise!
