Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My company, AM&M, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and we are aiming to raise £30,000 for four local charities.  As well as various events such as a sports day and charity ball, all the staff are fundraising individually too.

My challenge is to swim the distance by road from our offices in Burgess Hill to the Sussex Wildlife Trust in Small Dole and back - a total of 30.25km.  This is 1,211 lengths of the Arundel Lido!  I have to complete this during the month of August, starting on Monday 1st.  I can only swim during the week (no lane swimming at weekends) so will have to do 55 lengths EVERY WEEKDAY as I have 22 days (excluding the bank holiday) - eek!!!

I joined the Lido in May and have been five times since so you can see I've not exactly been practicing!!  In fact it only came to me as a fundraising idea the other day as I was looking at the Lido map showing their progress in swimming (collectively) from Arundel to Rio for the Olympics!!  The Lido will be verifying my daily swim and I will post updates!!

All our chosen local charities are amazing - Sussex Wildlife Trust, St Peter & St James, Group B Strep Support and Rockinghorse - but I chose SWT because I've always been passionate about nature and preserving it for future generations.  Frighteningly, 60% of our wildlife are in decline and 1 in 10 are heading for UK extinction.  The work the SWT does at its nature reserves - over 30 of them - across Sussex is invaluable and indeed vital in the fight to conserve the unique and beautiful wildlife of this wonderful county.

Please give whatever you can - every pound helps - thank you so much for your support. xxxxx
