GARY
Gary was a happy, fun loving 24 year old young man who had his whole life in front of him. He experienced headaches which turned out to be due to a Brain Anuerysm. Gary only survived several days after being admitted to The Southern General Hospital in Glasgow, leaving his family, friends and his girlfriend Lisa absolutely devastated. Gary's Mum and Dad decided that, even in their tragic loss, Gary would have wanted to help others and so, Gary gave his organs for donation, which enabled six people to have the gift of receiving an organ to improve their quality of life. As far as we know, all donees are making a good recovery.
Even in our terrible loss, Gary has brought happiness to the donees and their families. Gary was a very special young man who will always be loved and missed by his family and friends and we were blessed to have Gary in our lives, even if it was only for a short time.
In running The Great Scottish 1/2 Marathon on 4th October, Julie and I hope to raise funds for those who are lucky enough to survive Brain Aneursyms, Strokes, Head Trauma from accidents etc. who, as part of their recovery, contact Headway for help in rehabilitation in their lives going forward. We do this in memory of Gary who is sadly missed every day.
