Thanks for even looking at my page!!!
It's early days, but i've been inspired by Friends and total strangers, when i've told them of my wish to cycle LEJOG - so I thought if I set up this page - there would be no turning back!! Roll on June/July 2016....
My Friends know that I went to Nepal at the beginning of April to volunteer at Anandaban Leprosy Hospital, in Lele, Lalitput, about 8 miles from Kathmandu. What none of us expected was the devastating earthquakes on the 25th April - 3 days before my birthday - and 12th May - as well as all the aftershocks.
I was privileged to work with the most amazing doctors, nurses and all the other staff at Anandaban, taking casualties, comforting the distressed, distributing aid and witnessed people doing amazing things with limited resources, but most of all, I saw the difference that caring - in the truest sense of the word - can make.
Leprosy affected patients showed such compassion and were happy to ensure that those who needed immediate medical help took priority. Anandaban cares for every patient who comes through their doors.
Promise Nepal is vital in keeping this hospital and other projects running to help those people who are marginalised in health care and society in general.
I want to help make a difference.
You have just made that happen.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Now all I need to do is cycle 900-1000 miles. Simples!!!! :)
Thanks x
