Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday, I completed the Great North Swim! I swam one mile in Lake Windermere in 48 minutes and I didn't need to be rescued! Due to my own poor levels of organisation, I didn't get round to setting up a fundraising page in advance...so here I am now asking in retrospect!
As some know, I have worked in Vietnam for the past 2 years in a small town called Hoi An. I met some great people there who run brilliant charities. There are two charities that I hope to raise some money for; the Kianh Foundation and Swim Vietnam. Any funds you kind people can spare will be split equally between these organisations.
The Kianh Foundation is a school for disabled children. It offers huge support for children who have additional needs and their families. The school is full to bursting with many other children on the waiting list. It offers physiotherapy, play therapies, speech and language...pretty much everything you can imagine...but more is needed to meet the demand.
Drowning is one of the biggest causes of child death in Vietnam. Swim Vietnam offers swimming lessons to hundreds of children per year. Swim Vietnam trains local people to become swimming coaches and raises funds to build and run new swimming pools so more and more children can be taught to swim.
...£14 teaches a child how to swim...
...£40 provides education and therapies for a child for a month...
Please give what you can to these fabulous organisations!
Thank you so much!
Love,
Linds x
